THOUGHT FOR TODAY:

"Today's the day - keep your pecker up Old Chap."

Has Bowen blown a gasket?  What's he doing writing such a lewd statement!  Boy is he going to get into trouble!

True.  In polite Canadian society - not a good way to make a first impression.  I was not born in Canada.  Where I came from such a statement is an endearment and an encouraging comment made between close friends.  To them, birds and chickens had peckers, (their beaks) and there's nothing quite as stately as a bird perched with it's head held high.  Keep a stiff upper lip Old Chap.  As you can tell, and if you imagine you'll smile, when I first came to Canada as a teenager, I was constantly saying things that were misunderstood.  It was a time of trouble for me.  Yet, during this steep learning curve, I grew to be a much better person.  No doubt during the past few weeks, and in the ones to come, you may find yourself feeling your misunderstood.

1 Peter 3: 13-16 Living Bible

 13.    Usually no one will hurt you for wanting to do good.  But even if they should,

you are to envied, for God will reward you for it.

    14.    Quietly trust yourself to Christ your Lord and if anybody asks why you believe as you do,

be ready to tell him, and do it in a gentle and respectful way.

    15.    Do what is right, then if men speak against you, calling you evil names,

they will become ashamed of themselves for falsely accusing you when you have only done what is good.

    16.    Remember, if God wants you to suffer,

it is better to suffer for doing good than for doing wrong.

As you serve and interact with people I pray that you like I will be able to pray . . . . . "Let the words I speak today be soft and tender, for tomorrow I may have to eat them!"  Psalm 19:14  May HE bless you this day.
